Fears and Phobias

Here are some of the most common fears in the United States.  Chances are every person has experience with at least one or two of the following:

Public Speaking
Heights
Snakes
Spiders
Needles
Fear of Flying
Claustrophobia
Darkness
Failure

 

  


There are times when it's appropriate to be afraid of heights (like when you're on a 10th floor balcony) or snakes (when a cobra is 2 feet in front of you).   However, there are also times when it's a burden (like when you're on the 10th floor of an enclosed office building, or looking at a cobra on television).

It doesn't have to take YEARS to overcome a fear.


There's a common belief that if a person has had an intense fear for a long time, it should take a long time for that person to overcome it.   That's simply not true.

One woman came to me with an overwhelming fear of cats.  This 52-year old woman had lived with this fear since she was 19 years old, and it was as intense as it had ever been.   She wouldn't even enter my office until she knew my two cats were locked safely in their cages.

After one session, this woman was holding a cat in her arms for the first time in 33 years.   She could barely believe it, but there she was, doing something she never thought she'd do again.   A couple days later, she was at a local shelter thinking about adopting a kitten.

It's Not Magic.


This may seem too good to be true.  It may seem like magic.   I have to admit, that's what I used to think, until I saw it work first hand… until I used hypnosis to help others myself.  Hypnosis simply helps you to change the way you think about things.  

    

It helps you to understand, both consciously and unconsciously, the difference between real danger and imagined danger.  It puts you in control during those times when you have previously felt overwhelmed.


If any other person can be calm when faced with the situation or thing that you fear, you can be calm in that situation, too.

That is my experience.   That is my belief.
