Public Speaking

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld once joked that people attending a funeral, if given a choice, would rather be in the coffin than giving the eulogy.  He wasn't too far from the truth.  Speaking in public is the #1 fear reported in surveys of American adults.   It's so common, and such an immense obstacle for some people to overcome, that it's deserving of its very own category.

Size doesn't matter.   Take command at the mic.

Is there REALLY any difference between speaking

to two people and speaking to twenty?

Most people who are afraid of speaking in public realize their fear is irrational.  They understand that it's simply a question of numbers.   Each individual in your audience is simply that - an individual.  Each has his or her own interests, concerns and yes, fears.

Be comfortable. Be yourself.    Your audience is a collection of people... just like you.

However, this conscious realization does little to calm those nerves when a person walks up to the podium or grabs that microphone.  The idea of saying the wrong thing, looking like a fool, being embarrassed in front of a group, or not knowing the answer to a question can be paralyzing.  That's where hypnosis can help..

What are you trying to SAY?

When I had my own first session of hypnotherapy, I already had some experience being on television, as well as speaking in front of crowds, but I still got nervous most of the time.  After that session, I learned how to enjoy the experience, which in turn allowed me to concentrate on what I was speaking about !

Now that may sound incredibly obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people are more worried about how they look and what others are thinking than what they are actually talking about (i.e. the reason they are there in the first place).

You already know everything you need to know.

If you've prepared adequately for a speech or presentation, or you're an actor and you've memorized your lines, then you have done all you need to do.   Chances are, you wouldn't be given the opportunity if you weren't already prepared.  Clearly, someone is confident you can handle it.  The only thing missing is your confidence in yourself.  So what's stopping you?
